WOW Space
WOW Space is a group for women, ran by women! It is a safe space, offering training and advice. Back in February, they collaborated with the Museum of Oxford in an ethnographical project called Mixing Matters! This exciting project saw the group share life stories using food, traditional cooking utensils and family bonding times.

COVID-19 Recovery Sessions
Throughout lockdown, we have continued meeting online offering support sessions to families.
This included 6 weekly experiential COVID recovery sessions with Diane Regisford of The Evoke Community (@D_Regisford)! These gave families an opportunity to share their experiences of the ongoing pandemic and gain tools to care for themselves and their children.
Internet Safety and Sexual Health
In collaboration with Nicola Jones from the Terrance Higgins Trust, we held online parenting sessions on the internet safety and sexual health for children and adults!
Their work includes delivering food parcels and other items, as well as creating networks of neighbours to help each other with shopping, prescription collections, and other errands. They also make and distribute masks to NHS and frontline workers and started our Kitchen Collective programme 3 months ago.
Oxford Mutual Aid run’s the Kitchen Collective which produces and delivers 750 reheatable meals a week those who need it. Meals are cooked by professional chefs on a voluntary basis. They have also launched a Buy One Give One scheme with Lula’s Ethiopian and Eritrean Cuisine. You can take part in this initiative by ordering Buy One Give One takeaway through Lula’s website.

The Oxford Hub
The Oxford Hub’s aim is to “bring people and organisations together to make Oxford a better place for everyone.” It is run by Oxford City Council and has a number of programmes to help those in need. The Oxford Together campaign is its volunteer programme to help those in need during COVID-19. They offer help with shopping, to those feeling lonely and provide food
parcels to those in need.

Oxford Community Action promotes community development, social inclusion and social justice. They support BAME communities to tackle barriers preventing individuals and communities reaching their full potential! The Uhuru Project
A collaboration project between AFiUK and Stop the Traffik comprises of Women’s Voice Community Ambassadors –which is a group of women from different communities and faiths across Colchester they have been signposting women & girls who needed some extra help as well as going through various virtual workshops every Monday since lockdown. Building Resilience, Mentoring and Coaching, CV writing, Creative writing, Leadership and Goal setting.
The Community Ambassadors were nominated by a number of people for a Community Recognition Award. And the Mayor of Colchester Cllr. Nick Cope thanked them for making a difference within their local community during the lockdown.
